Hate to be the devil's advocate here..but going strictly by odds...it is more likely that you are in worse shape, and the world is fine...than the world is in horrible shape, and you are fine. Strictly going by the numbers anyway.

So either the people that say this are also contributing to said destruction of the world, OR against all odds, every person I have met has somehow been not part of the problem. (HINT: The second answer is not the right one)
