Holy crap! I'm amazed at how much you guys continue to do, and you've been on the farm ... has it even been two years?
When I saw the photo of the insulated but non-canvassed yurt, I imagined some of your neighbors standing on their porch, scratching their beards and going, "Now what in the hell are them damn hippie kids building now? That a spaceship?" :D
it's definitely an inspration to finish getting that fence done out front. i reckon the neighbor who goes by on his tractor all the time probably got a really good look at it. we got the canvas back up as fast as we could! it is blinding to look at it in full sun without the canvas on. which is kind of the point....radiant insulation. :)
Well, congrats. That's an amazing amount of work you all have done, especially knowing that you all have other obligations like full-time jobs and school. The rabbit hutch looks beautiful.
Happy New Year! This all happened in one day?! This is amazing! And beautiful! It makes my heart warm to see a group of people work together to get so much done in their community!
Hey, I'm not sure if you guys know about it or are interested, but there is an intra(? I think that the correct 'int'word)-community meeting on Feb 13 at 9am. I think it's at the source, but not sure yet, I'm waiting for the email to find out more. The last one was on the 20th of last month. It was an amazing wealth of info! The speakers/presenters were Laird Schuab, from Sandhill Farm in MO (his community actually puts out the Communities publications and helps run the Fellowship for Intentional Communites), his wife, Ma'ikwe Ludwig from Dancing Rabbit EcoVillage in MO, right down the road a bit from Sandhill, Zaida Amarel, and Victoria Lattanza (I live in community with her, just up the way from you guys).
Anyway, kudos to all of you! The farm looks fantastic!
Ma'ikwe and Laird came to visit Sunflower River while they were in town. Our House Carpenter, Rev, was recently out at Dancing Rabbit helping Ma'ikwe build her house, and I was involved (briefly) in AUE before they renamed themselves to Zia Lua.
I'm potentially interested in the meeting, thank you for bringing it to my attention.
AH!!! REV! I knew I knew the name! I'm friends with Ma'ikwe on Facebook and I was looking at the pictures of when her house was being built, there was Rev. Thats really nice that you all had a chance to visit while Laird and Ma'ikwe were here. Got it! Great, I'm glad I shared the info with you! Maybe we'll see you there!

The yurts look great! This is a strange way to contact ya'll but I can't figure out how else. I'm doing a road trip with my partner Scott, looking for opportunities with radical sustainability and organic farming. We would love to be able to check out your community. We'll probably come through Alburqurque January 25-29...if ya get this message, you can call me at 616.481.9201. I know this is strange...:) Rachel

not strange, Rachel, but too short-notice during a very busy week for us. we usually run 2-3 months ahead. I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier! we had houseguests during that stretch of time, and no room left at the inn, as it were. i hope you found good space and are enjoying your travels!
