To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours, and does not speak clearly.

I'm sure people thought I was crazy treating Wilbur the guinea pig like he was my partner in crime, but he really was. He and I would get up in the morning, have our cereal, and go off to work every day. (He was the class pet.) On Fridays, we'd both be glad the week was over!
