And for a timed fic, this is quite something. So much....feels. *gets overwhelmed by the feels*
As always, I really like your portrayal of Fei because it reminds me so much of canon Fei. The relationships between the characters feel very real.
Also, the build-up to the end...gosh...I was secretly hoping they wouldn't find Aki from beginning to end, but I read a dead Aki fic from you before, so I know it's possible. I was so relieved when that wasn't the case (at least with this ending).

He always cracks jokes to make fun of Feilong. He's pretty funny.

Yeah I thought about killing Takaba, but decided that would be too much like a couple of other fics I'd written. And I was going to put Yoh there with Feilong but Tao was the one who showed up. So it turned into something unanticipated. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) Now go write. XD

I love your Fei Long. He's just like I see him. His relationship with Tao is so sweet.

Thank you! I do see his relationship as developing into father-son rather than something creepy like the novel hinted at. Right now he's still in a position of power over Tao, and so he can mold the relationship another way if he's firm enough.

Yes it took about an hour. I don't know, some of the stories other people wrote were really impressive. I can't put out a fully fledged fic like that in such a short amount of time. So I stuck more to a short piece hitting emotional notes, as I tend to. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks! :)

Excellent story that uncovers some of the baser emotions that the characters rarely show. And, although not pleasant, they are emotions that would go hand in hand with their positions. Thanks for writing it.

Thanks! You hit on how I like to write fics, centering on emotions and trying to uncover them. That's what I like about them the most so I tend to focus everything there.
