My manager was probably expecting me to go apeshit on her over the phone. But I was pretty ecstatic. She must have found the whole situation bizarre. Now I get to go there and study and read rather than stand behind a counter for minimum wage!

Bah. People are getting laid off left and right. I'm sorry to hear it. But you seem like you're taking a positive spin on it, so I'm glad to hear that. And free time is good. The economy will pick up and maybe you'll get another job. And if not, once you're done with med school and have a basically guaranteed income, you can laugh at B&N. Laugh, I say!
