computer woes

I have the feeling that somehow I've messed up my cosmic carma.

Two weeks ago my harddisk crashed. So far I've shelled out € 200 for a new harddrive (160 GB - yeah), installing windows and restoring my data.

The repair guy saved everything but the folder with all of my personal files (pics of Viggo and Orlando, personal pics, slash stories,

Well, the repair guy told me that he'd done what he could re: saving and restoring my personal files. Now I'll have to wait and see what my colleague does with it. He took the old/faulty harddisk home and wants to run a program over the weekend. We started a run today at the office *coughs* but it takes a long time. *crosses fingers* I've found a couple of older backup CDs so I'll guess/hope it won't be a total loss after all.

Oh no! I'm so sorry about the computer, sweetie! Is that why you haven't been around lately? I've had that happen before and it's awful! I try to do a better job of backing things up these days but I still forget. ;)

How are things with you? I had my first job interview today. They didn't hire me, but I had a good interview! I was confident and relaxed and wearing a cute new outfit I bought. *g* And now I'm in touch with that agency and they are looking for me. So, hopefully something will turn up, soon!

Yes, having no computer at home really sucks... and was the reason I disappeared. Backing up things is really important. Mind you, my harddrive crashed when I was backing up files onto the external hdd. *le sigh* But six months between backup sessions is far too long. Lesson learned. And now I have to re-install a shitload of programs, among them AIM.

I hope this agency will get you a job soon! *squishes you back*

It crashed during a backup? Oh no! I swear, every single time I hear about one of my friends losing information from their computers I do a backup! lol I should really back up the important files this weekend, just to be on the safe side.

My plan is to buy an ex hd to store all the photos & videos I have saved and to store the music for my ipod which I know is taking up a ton of space!

I hope the agency finds me another job soon, too. I'm disappointed not to be starting on Monday, but at least the agency is looking for me now, and I've also discovered I should be looking into accounting type jobs! It was also good to go on a job interview--my first in about 20 years! And I bought a couple of nice outfits to wear on interviews as well and then I've got a jump start on my new professional wardrobe when I finally do land a job.
