*I entered two writing contests today. One is kind of a big deal over in the UK and could lead to some pretty amazing opportunities, even if I just place and not win the contest. I'm basically keeping my fingers crossed for both contests and keeping an eye out for ones that I can enter in the future. There have been a lot of ideas banging around

I'm always seriously impressed by your work ethic when it comes to your writing. Based on what I've read on your Twitter, I sincerely hope you do hear back from someone soon.

One of the reasons why I entered the UK contest today was because, even if you are shortlisted, there are London literary agents who will read through the entries and that's a huge deal to me. Winning a contest would be great, but more than that, the exposure it brings might lead to an agent or editor reading my work and that is what's most important.

Might I suggest BookCountry as well? It's a subsidiary of Penguin Group and it's "a place where readers and writers of genre fiction come together to read original fiction, post work or comments, and make a name for themselves. The community is a creative and supportive space where fiction writers and readers can give and receive constructive criticism, discover new and entertaining books, discuss and share tips and experiences, and learn about the publishing industry." Agents, published authors, publishers, as well as new writers all hang out there, so it's a great place to gain exposure and feedback.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I will definitely check out that site this weekend. I've been doing little things, here and there, but I need to do more in regards to my writing. I also need to push harder with my job search as well, but it's been tough lately.
