A spot in Greek opened up. I'm contemplating dropping sign language and taking it. It would require a full schedule change, but I would only have to take 2 semesters of Greek rather than 3 of sign language.
The dead languages are dead for a reason. Granted, knowing and understanding Greek (and Latin) makes other languages a breeze (or so I'm told). And if you took a foreign language in high school, you've kinda got a leg up, since a lot of the words are similar.
But, personally, I would take sign language.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I grew up with 2 deaf cousins, and it would all come back to me within the first couple of weeks. *innocent whistle*
Also, I think sign language is more practical. I mean, you meet so many more deaf people than you do ancient Greeks. :P
Yeah, and sign language fulfills part of my linguistics major. Greek ended up being wait list only, so I signed back up for it haha. It just sucks that its 3 semesters, pooh.
