30 Days of Television Meme

Aug 14, 2014 21:27

In my quest to cover past memes, I'm doing the 30 Days of Television Meme that used to float 'round these parts. I decided to do all of the days in one fell swoop. I finish something but with less bloviating than if I did it day by day ( Read more... )

west wing: paranoid berkley shiksa femin, mad men: born alone and you die alone, sopranos: the telltale moozadelle, game of thrones: win or die, rome: good bread this, meme, seinfeld: show about nothing, sex and the city: urban shoe myth!

Yay for Food Network! I don't watch Chopped, though. I saw a few eps but I didn't pick it up seriously for some reason.

I was so happy that Lenny won! I thought he was hilarious and relatable. And I think that his chuck wagon/gourmet cowboy theme is actually new for Food Network. He could impart some good lessons about cooking cheaply even though I'm a much healthier cook than he is. Anyway, he felt more needed than "coastal cuisine" or yet another Italian celeb chef. I was annoyed that Emma dropped out so early, though. I thought that she actually could have had what it took to beat Lenny. Her farm to table theme aligns more with how I cook. And as much as I like Lenny, her sweet genuineness could have been more lasting with me than Lenny's big showman style. But, I'm still very entertained and informed by Lenny and happy that he won.

How did you feel?

If you ever saw the episode with Lance and Madison, you'd be hooked, but some eps are better than others and that may be why you're not a fan.

Definitely Lenny was the best of the three. His concept was the only one that Food Network does not currently have in some form.

But speaking of chuck wagon cooks, there's a cook named Kent Rollins who was on the Chopped Grill Masters competition and he was even better than Lenny - sweet, charming, and talented as all get out. Wish he had his own show.

Yeah, I didn't *dislike* Chopped. But there wasn't quite that alchemy that drew me back to watch more.

OMG, I found Sarah aka "I need to represent Texas!" SO annoying. This crop was pretty disappointing. I only really liked Lenny and Emma and I found Jersey girl Nicole adequate but unexciting.

oooooh I should do this!

This isn't the first time I've seen a similar recommendation for Rome. I think it'll have to be my next show once I finish Six Feet Under.

Cersei's such a favorite of mine, too. She's tragic in such a nasty, angry way.

DO IT! (the meme and watching Rome!) I have some gender complaints about Rome and some pacing issues in the second season. However, the plot, the acting, the sets, the characters, the class issues, the realpolitik and war games, and arguably, my favorite, the rollicking, tawdry witty dialogue is pretty perfect.

LOL, by the next turn, I really should watch Six Feet Under. I was unimpressed by American Beauty but I like True Blood per Alan Ball opinions so far.

Love Cersei! Although, I'm pretty enamored with all of the major Game of Thrones ladies through mid-S2, except Catelyn.
