As it started to rain, Korok’s Moga had vanquished the last Gorath with a deafening roar. The weary Kybarite heaved a sigh and reared his steed about. The battle was over.

That’s what he thought, anyway.

A scream alerted his sharp senses suddenly. He grunted and hurried his Moga to the source, only to interrupt a desperate struggle.

An Arderian magi was cornered against one of the fallen trees with only Spray Narth to defend her. A large Shadow Dryte ravenously tore through the Narth. The beast loomed over the girl, its eyes tainted with a menacing glow.

The Dryte staggered as Korok’s Moga rammed it from behind. Korok quickly rode past the Arderian and snatched her out of the fray. The Dryte pursued them even though it had little energy remaining.

“L-leave it to me.”

Archaic words dripped from the Arderian’s mouth and a shaft of lightning struck the Dryte, turning it into animate almost instantly.

“Stupid girl…” Korok muttered.

“It’s Serafi, not stupid.” She retorted tiredly and slumped against him. He flinched a little when her head slipped between the furs that covered his chest. He growled in discomfort and rolled his eyes; the girl had passed out.

Summary: Serafi studies the face of her rescuer and vice-versa.
Word Count: 200

Serafi slowly approached the door and cracked it open. The sun’s light blinded her; she had been out cold for three days. She spotted her rescuer helping other magi move some debris.

Tilting her head, she inspected him. A typical Kybarite, he was tall and well-built. His skin was gently tanned and his dark hair was pulled back with a cord of feathers.

A smile illuminated her face as he turned and walked towards the inn. He paused at the sight of her, though, and an exasperated sigh fell from his mouth.

Serafi puckered her lips and chirped, “What?”

Korok lumbered into the inn, hoping she would not follow. He lacked finesse when it came to interactions with the opposite sex. He was much too serious and rough.

“I just wanted to thank you!” She called and caught up with him. Standing in front of him, she continued in a spritely voice, “What’s your name?”

Her big, violet eyes still studied him. Tattered ribbons held some of her blonde hair back and brought a little charm to her chipper disposition.

“Korok and no thanks are necessary.” He mumbled as his dark eyes wandered over her momentarily.

What was he doing?
