Amazon is now censoring GLBT books of all sorts - YA, romance, self-help, etc - by listing them as "adult content." According to Amazon, in consideration of our entire customer base, we exclude "adult" material from appearing in some searches and best seller lists. Hmm, that's interesting. I hadn't seen that before.

Still, even if this is due to trolling, I think Amazon is culpable. Regardless of how/why the books in question were flagged to lose their sales rankings, it's Amazon's stated policy to restrict adult material from searches and there's no way of choosing between doing a safe search and a search that includes adult material.

Oh, I definitely agree that they are at fault. I just think it's possible this is an act of trolling to point out the problems in the system in a large way. They even did a segment about AmazonFail on the news this evening, so even people who aren't huge internet users have probably heard about this at some point today. Whoever is behind this, I'm glad the public has been made aware, I know I will not be shopping with Amazon until this is resolved.
