What got cut so as not to make the longest post ever

Am terribly behind on my fic exchange reading. I was planning on posting more recs, but, yeah, that hasn't happened.

I got my assignment for silentlikestone which I am excited about. Now I just have to figure out what to write. I've got a few ideas already, I just need to stalk my recipient's journal for a few days so I can decide what she might like best ( Read more... )

I don't know about gift fics, as you never really know whether or not the writer put any effort into it at all. I don't know, maybe I'm just bitchy or something, but sometimes it doesn't seem like the writers put any effort into their work at all, or deliberately write their recipients' squicks. In those cases, I can understand complaining.

If someone deliberately writes their recipients' squicks or just doesn't pay attention to the squick list then I think complaining is completely justified.

Even if the writer didn't seem to put much effort into it, just writing the fic in the first place takes some effort. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I tend to assume the writer at least tried.

I completely agree about giftfic manners. I mean, I know that I myself would be completely capable of complaining about the fic, but if I do, I would do it on a different journal that most people don't go to and it would be private, like most of my rants are.

Also, you should definitely do subrosa_tennis. -pushes you to the sign-up post- It'll be fun!

Exactly. I can understand wanting to complain about a fic you didn't like, I'd probably want to if it were me, but I'd do it on IM or email or something.
