World of Warcraft Patching Question

I need to patch my game to 2.0.3, and I can't use the automatic download on my connection without serious pain. I've downloaded both parts of the manual patch (yes, I do have the correct language version) and have unzipped them to the folder suggested by WoWWiki. When I try to run BNUpdate.exe, however, it simply says that "there is no patch file ( Read more... )

I forget how it goes on the PC, but shouldn't you just be able to open up the patch file and run it? Or start up the game, let it shut down to patch, and if the patch file is in the right location, it'll detect it and show the patch as fully downloaded so then you can hit OK and start patching.

It's . . . complicated. I've got a Euro version but I play on the American servers, because that's where Phil had his account and I wanted to be with him. I used to use my Euro account to patch, therefore, but it's now expired and I don't want to pay extra money to renew it. So, I can't log in.

What I'm going to try is to get a 10 day free trial account, and use it to patch, and then get back onto the US servers.

you should actually still be able to get the patch DLed, expired does just mean you don't have access to the game. you can still log in and stuff, you will just never get to the char select screen.

Uh and, remember the website I linked you last patch?

try this... since blizzard has changed the mechanics of their patch files im just expiermenting here.

in my WoW folder there is a folder called "patches" this is where i found today's patch. so create folder or insert patch file existing patches folder. log in and see if the downloader can find the file.

let me know if you guys get it to work

p.s. i just got a message from someone in kotd saying they unzipped it to the patches folder and it works fine.

Mmm. The downloader finds the file fine and says it's complete, but the actual updater doesn't pick it up. I suspect it's because I'm running an American account on a Euro version of the game, and actually no longer have a Euro account with which to patch. As I said to Gaia, I'm trying to get a free trial account that I'll use to patch. Thanks, though. :)
