released from weight loss limbo

I find myself thinking there can be few things that will motivate one to lose some weight like a prolonged period of a)gaining weight, will or nill; b)actually knowing you are supposed to be gaining weight and not being allowed to even contemplate losing weight; and c)in response to the above situation, pretty much eating whatever you like (you ( Read more... )

Weight Watchers is an excellent program. I used to belong here at work, but had to stop because it got too expensive for me to go to the meetings. I have since gained some weight back, but started eating less and doing aerobics on my own, so going back down. I am sure you know about the whole yo-yo thing ;)
Losing weight after pregnancy can be challenging, but doable. You will do good with the WW. They really teach you what's good as a lifestyle change, but the weekly meetings were what helped me stay accountable to myself. The weigh-ins are what kept me going. I did loose like 25 lbs or so, but ended up putting it back on eventually because I was no long held accountable to weigh in, etc. It's a really excellent program. Stay with it, girly ;)

I'm am sooo the advocate of modern WW. I originally started almost five years ago shortly before the wedding. I lost ninety pounds over the next two years but was not able to keep my act together when I went back to school instead of working in an office. I lost over 30% of my original body weight but never reached my goal of 50% loss and it all made it back over the next two and a half years, ending with my getting pregnant. I know the reasons it didn't "work" were my own doing; I'm probably more familiar with it all than you actually... actually so I'll go ahead and throw in my advice- don't quit the meetings. Especially if you're not lifetime yet. It's the beginning of the end when you stop attending, for any reason, in my experience.

You know, this is the absolute BEST time for you to be on WW! Those extra 10 points were a lifesaver for me. In fact, I often found myself trying to find something to use them up long about bedtime. One thing, though. You might actually want to keep careful track and make sure you eat all the points each day. My lactation consultant said that adequate diet is critical to a healthy milk supply, and if you cause it to dip by not eating enough, it can be a long road to getting it back up . . . if you are able to at all. She gave me the okay to do WW, but *only* if I was careful to consume my daily allotment.

Besides, you know that it's not that hard to fill up those extra points, even without overeating. A small dish of real ice cream is high in points, but it's also got calcium :)

One of the things I liked for the "leftover bedtime points" was a glass of coconut/pineapple juice. It's pretty costly at any other non-bf'ing WW time.
