I think I'm fairly picky with Draco, Lupin and Snape, but I picked Snape b/c he's my favorite. *g* The reason why I'm so picky is that I've seen really great fics with these characters and I've seen horrible ones with them. I think they can be difficult characters to get right, which makes the good fics fun and interesting and the bad ones torture. Also I think they are less flexible in their personalities, especially Snape. I don't like a nice, cuddly Snape, but I don't think he's a complete bastard either. I don't like Lupin to be a complete milksop, but I don't like him all super-aggressive and grrr. And Draco tends to be femm'd quite a bit in fic, which I don't like.
I have very specific ideas of how I think these characters should act, within a certain range. :)
Surprisingly, I find I'm *less* picky with Snape, to a certain extent. Maybe it's because there's so little of his true personality in the books, and so my "range" of acceptable Snapes is more flexible than it is for Draco [whom I see as pretty well defined] :). But you're right, the bad ones of favorite characters are torture.
ok so it was difficult to decide who I am most picky about. I went for Snape in the end because I am just fed up of reading major OOC. He seems to suffer the most (Hermione is very close behind) from having emergency fanon transplants.
Oooh, difficult choice between Hermione and Snape (and Ron coming in a close third). I went with Hermione just because we see more of her than Snape so with him I can get behind a greater range of possible characterizations.
Two votes for Harry now ^_^. I just realized I didn't add "I'm not that picky about characterizations" as an option. I guess I assumed everyone is picky about something! And I love that icon, btw!!

"Oh, my God! His nose is hooked! Someone get the anasthesia, STAT!"
"Doctor, do you think you can save him?"
"I don't know, Nurse Caldwell. He needs a lot of work. Start with the hair - it's not greasy, it's shiny."
"Yes, Doctor."
"And we can gloss over his other features if we focus on the buff body he's been 'hiding' under his robes all this time."
"Brilliant, Doctor!"
