Monthly Sam Love Contest- Guidelines

Feb 27, 2010 07:42

Before we get this contest rolling, please read over this post for information on dates of prompts and posting as well as general guidelines.

Prompts and Voting:

1. A prompt will be posted on the first of every month. Sometimes things may come up and the prompt will be posted before or after that 1st but it will always be up within the first week of the month.

2. Submissions must be submitted no later than the date given or will not be included in the contest. We need at least three days for voting. (i.e. If a prompt is posted on or around Monday March, 1st then submissions are due by Sunday March, 28th.)

3. Voting will begin the day after submissions are due. A post will be made where members can place their votes in screened comments. Voting will close the last day of the month and votes will be tallied up so that the winner can be announced within the first week of the next month.

Posting Guidelines

4. We would still like to keep this community family friendly so we ask that all entries be gen (no slash, het, romance, etc.) and that the rating be low R or under (no explicit sexual content, minimal graphic violence, minimal harsh language).

5. Those participating may only submit one work per month. (If you post a fic you can’t submit a video or piece of art as well.)

6. All works submitted must be complete when posted and must also be new works. Works that have already been posted to other communities will not be included in the contest.

7. The minimum word count for this contest will be 100 words so drabbles are permitted.

8. If you’re a speedy writer and will be posting a multi-chapter story, all chapters must be submitted in a single post.

9. Works may be posted directly to the community or linked to a personal journal. All works must be placed under a cut, but previews are allowed as long as they are spoiler free (This applies even if you are linking to a personal journal). All works must be submitted in the format below with a link to the story if posted to a personal journal.

10. All posts will be moderated. Mods will approve all entries that follow these guidelines and will also be responsible for providing relevant tags for all entries.

11. All works submitted must follow this format. If posts are not submitted as so, they will not be accepted by the Mods and therefore not included in the contest.

13. Lastly, have fun and please take the time to comment on others’ work. Don’t wait till voting to let someone know you enjoyed their work and please be nice in the comments posted.

If anyone sees any problems or has any questions please leave us a comment here. For those who have difficulty with posting on LJ, let us know and we’ll help you post your work so that it meets the guidelines. Also, since there is a tighter timeline for the contest, we won’t require that fics be betaed but it is always nice to have someone reader over your work if time permits.
