Pairing/Characters: Gen, Giles, Spike (Not slash in case you’re wondering)
Rating: PG-13 for strong language

Summary: Both Giles and Spike are no longer the men they used to be. At least they can still irritate each other no end.

I always did love their little "odd couple" interactions in the show, and I could easily see this scene taking place just before 'Hush.' This is quite wonderful!

Thank you very much. Their dynamic really was "odd couple"esque, so much so I was tempted to the call the fic two grumpy men.

I think it was Buffy that stood between them ever really being friends. That, and Spike being an evil vampire. lol. I like your story. I could totally see this happening. He couldn't keep Spike chained in the bathtub all the time.

I bet it would be a sort of relief/comfort to talk to someone from England for Giles.

One other thing they both have in common, that they'd probably never admit to, was having a 'proper' English background/upbringing, and finding release in rebellion and darkness. Ripper revelled in his behaviour, as did Spike.

Here's to Giles and Spike, the ultimate odd couple of the Buffyverse! How very Giles to be embarrassed by the fact he's drinking with his prisoner and how very Spike to mock Giles about it. *chuckles*

I really felt like this story could've been a missing scene there in Season 4. There really needs to be more Giles and Spike "Odd Couple" stories. Thanks for contributing one. I enjoyed it a lot. Nicely done! :)
