I like Hollywood Lover. Mostly. I was very much impressed by the performance of Yuuhi and Ahi. But I have a problem in loving this show wholeheartedly because of the heroine Rose. To be precise, the way the director Ueda Keiko treated her.

Outside of my Takarazuka fandom life, I have pretty strong feminist beliefs. Within the fandom, I've kind of had to learn to just not think about it too hard, or I just wouldn't be able to enjoy most shows. I guess I was mostly just happy to see Rose at least not be one of your "dime a dozen" flat musumeyaku heroines (Jazzy Fairies, Akatsuki no Roma, Secret Hunter, PariSora, etc)
Did you ever see Yuuhi's "Spark!" dinner show? She complains about having to wear yellow all the time. I wonder how she'll deal with pink...

Haha, you are right. I tend to be a little harsh on Keiko-sensei because I believe she really has a talent but for the last few years she has been taking a cookie-cutter approach to mold her heroines. Honestly though, I'd love to see Ueda Keiko assigned as a writer-director far more than the other Ueda. Now I am feeling nervous that the new Hanagumi has got Tani Masazumi for Yuu’s debut show as a new top otokoyaku -_-;
She complains about having to wear yellow all the time.
I haven't see that show, but after 16 years of all-yellow something I just wonder how she finds wearing pink *giggles*
Oh, I've just found Yuuhi is having an interesting set of all-musumeyaku supporters for her coming dinner show. Aside from Nene, all of them (Ichika, Saaya, and Kirari) are good singers and character actresses.
