I'm so sorry. I was kind of dreading this ever since you posted your "Jack/Ianto 4eva" message.

All I can think of is to urge you to get to the Eleventh Doctor, who is immensely fabulous.

According to Netflix, they will start dishing out season 5 in 6 more days. I eagerly await. I'm a little unsure how I'm going to take it, since I won't have a touchpoint -- no companion I know, no Doctor, no Jack -- but I will try, spurred on by your and Molly's affection for 11.

Oh hooray!

I hope you will spare a fond chuckle when you realize (in the first minutes of the first episode--I'm not spoiling anything) that the season revolves around an Orphan Child of Destiny. But that wasn't the ONLY reason I liked it.

Also, you have a birthday present on its way! I really hope it isn't stolen off your porch, as it is (I flatter myself) quite desirable. I couldn't find a way to send it delivery-confirmation-required though.

I ordered it yesterday and shipping time was estimated at 6 to 9 days.

I didn't realise you hadn't seen it yet! If it's any comfort, 99% of fandom shares your feelings of ruined happyplace :( I advise consuming masses of fic to reestablish it. Fixits! There are some amazingly wonderful fixits out there, written a million times more skilfully than CoE was.

I'm clawing my way back, slowly. I'm hugely destroyed over Ianto, but about the Hub, too -- pterodactyl! frozen dudes! archives! how could they just blow up all of that?

but you know what makes me happy? JACK AND IANTO SHOPPING AT SAINSBURY'S. <3 thank you for doing your part to make my head a happy place again.

:D Yaaay for the curtainfic :D

I started that one before CoE aired, it was so hard to finish, after that. Everything had changed!

Le sigh.

I know,it's a depressing miniseries! We watched Children of Earth on a Friday night and we both moped around all weekend.

When I get sad I like to think about Jack and the acrobat twins he referenced in S1. It makes me happy again.

ahhhh yes. I watched the circus episode last night and there is a fleeting reference to the acrobat twins. It made me feel warm inside.

Jack is a crappy father, when you put it like that! I kept trying to excuse him to myself, but that was wrong: he just sucks.

Yep. I think Alice's excuse -- that's it's tooooo upsetting to see him not grow old -- is bullshit. If she had a decent relationship with him, she would've overcome that point (and who doesn't look upon a beloved parent as being slightly immortal, anyway?) The problem is not his immortality, it's that Jack's list of priorities looks like this:

1) The Doctor
2) Torchwood
3) Greatcoat (care and maintenance of)
...
367) Family

That cracked me up, greatcoat maintenance!

(My icon is definitely John Barrowman, not Capt. Jack)
