It's been an interesting few weeks. For one reason (the one I'll talk about now), I think I've finally made some progress in meeting some real live, nice, gay people down here. And some of them have been really great about including me in things. This has made a huge impact on me. I hadn't even really realized until this past weekend how much....

How did you meet them?

I was at a conference in DC last spring (before I moved down here) and was introduced to this woman who works at Moffitt, via a mutual friend from Philly. So, she told me I had to meet the guys who live across the street from her (Andy and Bryan). So I met them weeks ago, and tried to follow up, but nothing ever went anywhere. Until a couple weeks ago. They belong to this gay philanthropic organization here. It has monthly meetings, typically in members' homes. Except September's meeting was a special, semiformal thing. So I dressed up and went to that. Long story short, I've met a few more people through that and had a couple invites to things. So I think I have my foot in the door now.
