No Smoking, More Knitting

Feb 10, 2009 16:28

I've been smoke free for 31 days and I'm absolutely gagging for a cigarette. Before I gave up completely, I'd cut down to only a few fags very late at night, but now I'm craving ALL DAY. This is not a good sign ( Read more... )

Frankenstein! I love that novel, even after studying it for A-Level English, along with King Lear and Things Fall Apart. I sensed that the tutor might have had father issues...

Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgid? I'm sorry, I'm just not a huge fan of the Great Russian Novel. And saying that you think a novel is a pile of shit is a valid critique, so long as you can say *why*.

In conclusion, I think I need to go rewatch Young Frankenstein. Fronk-En-Steen!

Frankenstein is brilliant, although I have to be in the right mood for it. I find it quite depressing!

LOL! Quite. At the moment I only know I hate it because it's boring and bleak and colourless and completely uninteresting. It's too real. I would have a better time watching pain peel from age and damp conditions. I guess I'll learn how to say that in a more academically pleasing way. Hee! :OD

Oooh, will it count as research if I watch it, too?

He's cute! (And your knitting's improving :-)

Is it Turgenev's Fathers and Sons? It's a long time since I read it, but I thought it was one of those Russian novels where criticism of the regime was disguised as tale of domestic life.

Thank you! I'm really pleased with how he turned out. I still can't get the arms right and his head is a bit lumpy, but it's a definitely improvement.

Yep, that's the one. Too well disguised, if you ask me. It sent me to sleep!
