Wow! Well done you! =D

Now my craving for jelly babies is back. Seriously, I've always hated the things but all of a sudden I can't get enough.

Whoohoo!!

Enjoy the telly - you've earned it! Well done on being a smoke-free zone after nine days. It's not easy but definitely doable to give up altogether. And better to knit bright red jelly babies than eat them. Fewer calories, that way. ;o)

LOL, actually, I've been eating them too. I got a big tin for Christmas. Hee!

\o/ Well done! I'm soo looking forward to it. Heh, I suppose I should be glad I came so late to it, I could read the whole story in one (long) go. :)

Bamboo needles Rock!

Have you tried circs? I'll never again buy straights. And probably nothing other than bamboo - I'm fine with being a slow knitter, and I like the grip they have and how light and temperate they are.

I've only been using them a day now, but I'm converted. They're only cheap ones, too!

What are circs?

I have a strange, beginners question for you. How do you hold your needles? My nan used to hold the right needle like a pencil with the yarn controled by the index finger and my book tells me to hold it that way, too. But I've seen several other instructions that show the knitter holding them by the index finger and thumb but beneath the hand. Is there a proper way? I've been trying to do it the pencil way.

OH, btw, I just got my invite to Ravelry. My username is Uninv1ted. Yays!

Circular needles are basically two short needles joined with a cable. You can use them to knit in the round, or knit flat (like a scarf or discloth), by treating each end as it's own needle and ignoring the cable. Here's a video that shows some circs (I use Clover Bamboo ones that I get at Joanns or Michaels) and shows someone knitting in the round (like you'd do for a hat): http://www.knittinghelp.com/apps/flash/video_player/play/5/1... )

Ooooh, thanks for all the links and everything! Everything is so new and shiny! I think we can get Clover stuff here. A friend is going to drive me to a craft superstore this coming Monday so I'm making up a list of beginners stuff I need to make things a bit easier.

I def need to watch my tension. I had to K3 tog x 6 yesterday and it was a disaster because I couldn't get the needles through properly. Whoops! LOL!

You guys are so missing out. They're like nothing else on earth. Juicy and chewy but not too chewy, and you have to bite their heads off.
