I'm singing a little song in my head right now (it would be aloud, but I'm still at work) because this makes me so happy. This is my favorite type of kid!fic - unecumbered by messy pregnancy, gooey baby worship, or sudden regressions into childhood by our heroes. I'm rather enamoured of Draco in this. He's grown up so much, but the seeds of the Draco we know and love to hate are still there. You've made him wonderfully sympathetic already, without erasing the character Rowling wrote him as.

Excellent start! I look forward to reading future chapters.

Thank you so much for your fb, hon. I adore Draco in every sense. I love his rudeness and superiority; it makes him who he is and I would hate to loose that sense. He's grown up now so he doesn't have the constant childish meanness that he did ... He has the adult version of it instead. :oD

I adore Draco when he's rude and superior and slightly mean. He's grown up a lot now, but he's still spent a long time by himself (with Kasen) so he's not used to dealing with people all that much. He doesn't know how to handle those that get in his way. Bless his cotton socks.

oh my god. OH MY GOD!! the animosity! the adorableness of James and Kasen (whose name i love, by the way)! gah. i can't believe how much impact such a short scene can have - the things those two said to eachother... man. in front of their kids too! i can imagine how shook up Draco must have been though, to lash out like that - and have the convenient target be the one person you've always pretty much despised... oi.

That's it exactly! It was the shock. It hurtled him back all those years and suddenly he was his 16 year old self, someone I'm sure he doesn't want to be.
