Mike stops somewhere on the way home from work one rainy night, and his bike is stolen. Enter Harvey, who ditches a date to drive him home, because he kind of looks like a drowned mouse, and Harvey finds this adorable.

Harvey stands in the rain, hands limp at his side. The water runs freely into his eyes, over his suit, into his shoes. But his thoughts are elsewhere, somewhere away from the rain and closer to Mike's ever-widening sphere of Things Gone Wrong. It feels like he's being pulled towards Mike's center of gravity, slowly orbiting closer despite his best efforts at resisting.

"Harvey!" someone shouts over the rhythmic sounds of rainfall and car honks. Harvey's attention snaps back to the present, and hones in on Mike, who's waving one hand wildly and using the other to clutch at his messenger bag. His long legs nearly trip over the slick surface of the sidewalk, and he skids to a halt in front of Harvey, shock splashed all over his face. "Harvey, god, I’m so sorry. My bike, it got stolen. I filed a police report, but I mean, I went looking for it anyway. You never know, right? But--" He actually takes a breath and looks at Harvey. "What are you ( ... )

This is so beyond sweet! Thank you so much for posting this-- I just love it when Harvey loses focus of all the shallow crap that he used to feel was essential. Mike just becomes the exception to every rule.
