Rough Draft Deadline - Oct. 22nd!

Oct 19, 2011 20:38

Hey guys! This is a reminder that this Saturday is the deadline for rough drafts. This means you have 3 more days to complete your draft and email it to us. One thing to remember when submitting your draft is that it should be in .doc or .rtf format. Not .docx because your artist(s) might not be able to access that format ( Read more... )

What's the minimum our rough draft needs to be?

Thanks for running this! :)

We've previously said that rough drafts should be within the 15,000 word minimum and, really, we would prefer that. However, if you are experiencing some difficulty getting to that point in time, we're willing to give a little leeway. What number are you currently at?

I'm at 7,115. I believe I can force myself to get to 15K by Saturday. I will give you a heads up if I can't though and thank you for getting back to me quickly.

We don't want anyone to drop out that doesn't want to, so if you can get your draft to 13,500 with a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end we'll accept it. :) Just remember to briefly explain/describe any missing scenes for your artist within the draft.

Is there any way to change our summary later if we're dissatisfied with it?

Absolutely! You can change the summary and any other information before the final posting. :)

Unfortunately, with my schedule right now, I won't be able to make 15k by Saturday. I don't even think I'll be able to hit 10k thanks to studying, babystting, general life, etc.

So, sadly, I guess I don't make the cut, which means I'm counted out. :(

Does your story have a defined beginning, middle, and end? If it does and if you think you can make 15K by Dec. perhaps you could still submit your rough draft? We really don't want people to have to drop out if they don't want to. :(

I have the beginning and I have bits and pieces of the middle, but the end only exists in my head. I have an idea of how I want it to end, but I'm not quite sure how to get there yet. December should be enough time, but then again, I thought I'd be at 10k by now, so I don't know. It really depends on what happens RL-wise.

I really don't want to drop out, but I'd hate to hit the final deadline and still not be finished, so... I guess it's your call.

Well, as much as we don't want you or anyone to drop out, we also don't want someone to create art for your story and then you not make the final deadline. So, really, if you feel like there's a possibility that this will happen it probably is best if you don't finish. In the end, though, it really comes down to whether or not you think you can make it.

If you don't you can stay in this round, there's always next year! :)

I'm afraid I need to drop out on the fic I signed up to write on my own - I seem to have written myself out with the co-authored fic which we just turned in. So at least there's that!

I'm afraid I have been ill and have to drop out. I only have seven thousand words and while I'm sure I could get to 15,000 without too much delay that won't be today (or rather yesterday) so I'll have to drop out. Hopefully I'll find motivation to finish and post on my own terms. Sorry.

We understand. However, I would like to say that we've accepted rough drafts that are only about 7K, so if you have a draft with a defined beginning, middle, and end, you can still send in your draft before summary postings and we'll happily accept it. :) If you'd rather just finish on your own terms we still look forward to seeing your fic in the Suits fandom later on. :)

Thank you but I think considering my frame of mind at the moment that I should probably just back out as much as I wish I could continue. Thanks! I look forward to reading other entries. So sorry about this!
