From June 12-14, 2009, the Canadian Environmental Network will convene its annual general assembly in our fair city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and I have been serving on the organizing committee for this event. I also favour local offsets. I am planning to purchase Alberta wind energy credits via Bullfrog power because the money "stays in Alberta". Not sure if it actually does, but somehow it seems like a better thing to do.
