Confessions coming soon

Ah, well...I had a bit of good luck. I was talking to Cecile about the rooms left on the beached ship, and it turns out there's some space down in the hold, in a part that wasn't damaged when the ship ran aground. It's going to take me the rest of the week to clean it and set up, and get a ladder or something...but pretty soon I'll be able to have ( Read more... )

I'll help ya. *smiles* That way you'll still have time for fishing, too.

... Did you really drop buckets on people's heads? It don't seem your style, Lazlo.

Oh, thank you, Subala! I would appreciate that.

Ah...hahaha. Well, sort of. The man who told me about a captain's right to judge wanted me to use my Rune, but...I told him it would be better if we did something a little less painful. I only dropped buckets on people who confessed things I couldn't forgive, so it didn't happen that often.

No problem!

Your Rune? Why would he want ya to punish'em with Rune magic? What kind of Rune is it anyways? *Subala does not know about Lazlo's Rune unless her told her "off screen"*

Oh, uh... *rubbing his left hand...well, it shouldn't be such a secret if half his crew is here and they know, right?*

...it's the Rune of Punishment.

Sometimes it feels better just to have someone to tell things to, especially when you know they won't think too ill of you even afterwards. Writing down your feelings on a tiny piece of paper and crumpling it up only works so many times!!

That was kind of what I figured. And, I'm still a stranger to a lot of the residents...I hope they would take that to mean, I don't have any pre-conceived judgments toward them.

Well if I catch anyone misbehaving I'll tell them they can go have a time-out with you and think about what they did wrong!

That sounds like a good idea. Hopefully, people take advantage of it.

Do you believe that simply revealing one's deepest secrets to you will relieve these people of their heavy consciences?

Well...honestly, yes. It worked for some of the people on my crew, when I was captain of a ship.

Uh... t-the confessions will be anonymous, right?

Uh, yeah. As much as they can be. I don't have the skill to build separate rooms, so I figure I'll just hang up a curtain, so I can't see who it is on the other side. People don't have to tell me their names or anything, if they don't want to.

Well, that's certainly an unusual service. I admit, I'm curious. What would you do with the confessions people make to you?

Oh...nothing, really. I'd just listen, unless they actually asked me for advice. I won't pretend I'm the wisest person here, I may not be able to really tell them what to do, but...sometimes people just need someone to listen.
