...

Forgive me. But I hold a sheer disdain for this time of year. It...

...it bothers me.

Although everything bothers me lately. Not that it matters...

...I find it confounding and quarrelsome and foreboding all at once, that time seems at a stand still. Piercingly silent doldrums licked with stagnation have been looming hard and fierce upon the castle ( Read more... )

So basically you're perturbed that you can't solve the mystery of the Reappearing Bookends copyright Nancy Drew? Geez, Eike, why didn't you just ask me to solve it for you?~ :D

...Well...I wouldn't want to cause any fuss. You're busy enough...

I take it that you are the librarian?

I was wondering if you could recommend a few books that I may take on my upcoming trip to the Island Nations - I do enjoy historical accounts and biographies, so if you have any, I'd really appreciate your suggestions.

....Correct. That would be I.

...A recommendation...? Surely. You want historical accounts concerning the land you are traveling to then...? I have two...sadly they are such old prints that they are brittle... they are first editions and we know how much time has passed since they were first printed...so I have them placed in the reference only section under lock and key...however I know of three newer copies concerning the region...that are kept at Brass Castle.

...How much time do you have before departure...?

**stares blankly**

Valentine's Day is certainly not for everyone so there is no need to apologize.

I am sorry that people aren't taking better care of your books. Is it possible to have them replaced if any of them were to get into irrepaireable condiition?

Of course...but the ill sentiment projected can be interpreted as hostile and...caustic. I would prefer to extinguish any form of conflict that may arise...

...only some books can be replaced. A lot are antiquated...some are first editions. And many are brittle from improper handling...nobody else covers their hands when dealing with my books...the acid in their skin corrodes the papyrus...

...it can be a bother.

Reino--I mean,

Eikey~ Don't you just wish you could just beat someone up, when you're feeling bothered!? Maybe there's a wall around here you could punch instead...Tell me if you know of one....

...Rhino...? Surely you jest. I am the opposite of 'large'...

...as for exertion...I've ruled violence out of necessity unless in a dire fight or flight situation...the best stress relief is to go elsewhere...

...even if it is fictional...it is some place of solace...it can be found in the pages and it is enough...

**clears throat**

I apologize. Forgive me for my unprofessional banter...

Oh no! I wasn't calling you a rhino! Promise!
I just almost called you my friend, Reinhold's, name! ...You sure do look a lot like him--I can't get over it! I bet you guys are cousins or something!

I'm not real big on reading...I don't like to sit for too long! But if you say it's a good stress reliever...
I wonder if I could jog in place and read at the same time?

No need to be sorry, Eikey! We're buddies, right?

...Is that so? I suppose anything is possible...I rather doubt we share a gene pool...but it is possible considering the time...

...the etymology of our given names suggests the same region of genesis...

...and everybody has their pastimes. You could jog in place and read...but your sweat would damage the book...I am afraid, so I would advise against it.

**acknowledges but does not respond to the "buddy" comment with anything more than a simple nod**

Books left in the snow? Perhaps it's about time the library reinforces some harsher penalties, other than the ol' late-fees. You know, some fear tactics!

And is that bookend mystery still going on? I had figured that maybe someone accidentally left them there and would return for them!

...There was a time when my wrath was a big enough penalty...

...it has never been a problem...

...but there are children. There are always children. And thieves...they will steal in their curiosity...

...I would store them in the basement where there are no children...but it is awfully wet there until summer...

...and yes...they puzzle me. I'm contemplating disposing of them...but a slight superstition prevents me from touching them...

Oh yes, you seem like you could be threatening when you want to be...;;;

Ahahaha! You really do need to keep a constant eye on those ankle-biters! Ah well, I suppose kids will be kids~

Why not stick a 'for sale' sign by those bookends? At least make a profit out of your inconveniences!

...

...indeed.

Well, that argument would hardly hold up in court...I would have to object...as children can be and have been...better than destructive heathens.

...Profit? I wouldn't think of it. Money is no object to me. When I have it...that is good. When not...it isn't the end of the world...

I have...however...considered putting the bookends out of sight...despite superstition...to see if anything bad happens...or if the person who made them makes the mistake of coming forth due to being insulted by their sudden disappearance.
