Sorry -1 just for account compromise.

I don't like this suggestion. Aside from account compromise, which is a very very big point, but explained adequetly above, I really don't see why its necessary. Either make the account private and never look at them again, or just delete the whole journal. I just don't see why anyone would need to do this, if you can provide an example maybe I will understand better.

A person might regret having posted hundreds of quizzes in their youth without wanting to abandon the whole journal.

A person might also have made some really embarrassing entries in the past, but with enough good ones mixed in that they'd not want to abandon the whole journal, but bad enough that merely making private would not do.

It would actually be a great tool for a community maintainer who had gotten seriously spammed.

I understand the concerns but, well, don't feel concerned tbh, and having had to manually delete 4 years of entries, I really wish there was a way of doing this.

As others have said above, there is too much risk of abuse from account compromise situations. On the other hand, I have a friend who wanted to delete some of her more embarrassing older entries (as Azz brought up above) but still wanted to keep her journal; she ended up having to manually delete hundreds of entries, which was a tedious process for her. So I can see the pros and cons of this suggestion.

How about making something like this a one-time paid feature, much like a rename token? While not entirely foolproof (the more nefarious of the hackers might be willing to burn their money on it, IDK), this might reduce the risk of abuse from unauthorized users... AND add a bit of revenue for LJ, since users who would want to use this legitimately might be willing to pay for it. The "mass-delete" token (or whatever it would be called) could be restricted to a pre-set number of entries.

I would love to be able to mass delete entries for so many reasons. While 95% of my journal is friends only and I rarely make private entries, I don't dwell on my past. At the end of each year I save that year onto a disc through ljbook and I'd love to be able to then delete that year from my online journal.
