Title
All search engines on LJ should list results in order of most recent activity

Short, concise description of the ideaWhy on earth would Yandex list users who haven't updated since 2005 first? That doesn't make any sense. Yandex and all searches should show the users who have updated MOST RECENTLY first and then show those who've haven't ( Read more... )

If I'm searching for users or communities based on X-interest, I want to see who's active, not who snagged a username first. I gave up on looking for layout communities after one page when 75% of the comms the search function pulled up were comms that hadn't updated in 50+ weeks.

I agree that this should be the default, yes. There might be reasons that someone might search for oldest entries/journals first (i.e. they might be trying to track down a specific entry they remembered from 2005, etc.), so that should always be offered as an option were this suggestion implemented.

But yeah. Having oldest listed first by default is counterintuitive, especially given that most major search engines, such as Google, list most recent first by default.
