You'd rather ask for «syn_» at the beginning of the account name, it would help when the whole list of friends is sorted alphabetically (like in Semagic or some other clients).

Someone in docs recently made reference to a past scheme to use either s_ or _s to indicate a syndicated account, in the interests of saving space.

I'd rather not. 15 characters already requires mangling the name of the original feed source, 11 would make the problem much worse. 13 (the _s or s_ variant) is hardly better IMO, and the likelihood of false positives would be higher, I think.

I'm with you on that. If the extra characters for the prefix/suffix didn't shorten your character limit I'd be enthusiastic.

Agreed. It would be hard to loose that many characters when choosing an appropriate name.

I agree. That's why I submitted the previous suggestion about increasing name lengths together with this one. Perhaps they should have been together in the same submission but I thought each part had merits by itself.
