Azz has already posted the related suggestion, but this issue has already been migrated to LJ's developers.

For what it's worth, this limitation doesn't just apply to the Custom CSS box, it also happens in the S2 layer editor when you try to input too large a string. That would indicate the limitation is somewhere down in the bowels of the actual S2 implementation.

I'll tell the OP the same thing I tell everyone else: white space, comments, and excessive CSS rules count. If you get rid of the dead space, you'll be able to fit a lot more in the Custom CSS.
