You are correct! But, it was requested that I run it through suggestions again, before they accept the patch.

I really like this idea, since having to prod around with More Options just to get a preview that shows my HTML is fiddly.

Perhaps the "check spelling and preview" tickybox could become "check spelling during preview" or the like?

Well, I think what the patch in question does is change it to "check spelling", and then whether you hit Post Comment or Preview, it'll take you through the check spelling stage.
