Benefits for Permanent Members

I do agree that permanent accounts should get all the good loyalty stuff that paid users get (like the extra userpics we already get, for example, and I certainly wouldn't mind something similar for how many entries can show up for a tag), but beyond that, we're not really paying members anymore, and for LJ the Business, the focus needs to be on geting more people to pay and keeping paid members paying.
Permanent account perks should only increase along with paid account perks, and in proportion.

Also, if perm accounts get even more perks they will get even more expensive. I'm not sure that would be a good thing for users (and for LJ consequently).

A larger group of interests would be nice, but what would be even better would be a larger amount of link spaces.
More tag spaces would be most welcomed. This is a problem, esp. in communities.
More user pics spaces would also be welcomed. Many people are always asking for more user pic spaces, though not everyone does. I have noted the lack of news about the a la carte user pics in the news community, and along with that lack of information, there has not been a mention if a la carte user pics would apply to Permanent Accounts or not. (There has been some discussion and dissension about this in the news community.)
Basically, there needs to be more of a difference between Permanent Accounts and Paid Accounts, so that users would be encouraged to purchase them when the opportunity arose. The same could also be said for the differences between Plus and Paid Accounts, but that is a discussion for another "Suggestion".

Why would LJ want to devote time and effort to giving things specifically to a group of people that have very very little, if any, future influence on their bottom line?

I'm always saying this...
