No. If you want that, go to Facebook. I hate that that's possible on Facebook, because it makes it that much harder to control the availability of your information, I don't want that here.

Agreed agreed agreed. I don't know if the OP was implying meta-data linking to other users' profiles (the description was kind of vague) but that would lead to all sorts of fun and annoying privacy problems.

*shrugs* It's something I feel very strongly about. My Facebook profile is as empty as possible. It doesn't link at all to my LJ profile (but that's to keep internet and rl somewhat apart). I don't update my status or anything, I only use it to get info on upcoming events.

I just personally feel that, those people who think LJ is trying to screw us over? Should read up on Facebook.

I don't like it. It can already be done on facebook and myspace. You can tag a photo or add a description easily enough in my opinion.

Frankly, I hate the TAGS feature of LJ ScrapBook (and always have). I only name photos to make them easier to locate -- but I generally post them to use them inside my entries. This sounds like additional tagging options, to me.

(I've mentioned before that it's highly ANNOYING that the 'tag' area comes up first, so you're forced to tab past it... sigh...)

Additionally, I don't tend to think of my Galleries here as a place others would even want to visit -- and I'm fine keeping it that way. (grin)

if this is only visible to the owner of the account at which the image is hosted, then it might be more widely accepted by the userbase.

that will eliminate security concerns. as long as account holders don't have their account comprimised of course.
