Full description of the ideathere have been times i've wanted to find all my posts sent via my mobile phone but they're not tagged so i have to manually find them in each month. it would be really nice if they were just auto

Sure! And for voice posts, too? (I'm not finding anything mentioning them being auto-tagged at the moment, but if they're not, I'd like it to be included ...)

One thought - would this tag count against an individual user's tag limit? I would be opposed to it doing so if it were technically feasible for it to not.

There's a tag limit. You may not have any more than 1,000 distinct tags, unless and until the tag architecture is fixed so that bazillionty tags will not lead to site-suckage for people on the same cluster as you.
