More Friend Page Entries?

Short, concise description of the idea
I would like to see the maximum number of available friend page entries increased.

Full description of the ideaI subscribe to a large number of RSS feeds which see syndication on LiveJournal (144, to be exact), and enjoy reading through them via my Friends page often. However, I ( Read more... )

Even if this limit is increased, the issue will remain of syndication entries expiring after a short time. It'd be nice to raise that limit too; they kind of go together.

When I've been on vacation, I've had a similar problem.

I worked around it by setting up separate, non-overlapping filters for people, comms and feeds, then reading each one separately.

The only problem with that came when people would comment on "the kerfuffle today on xxx comm", or drool over Neil Gaiman's latest post, and I hadn't read my comms and feeds yet.

Being able to see more than 1000 entries simply on my friends page would have been nice.

Huh. I tried filtering, but it seemed like there was just a certain date I couldn't get past, not a skip number. So no matter what I tried, I could get back far enough.

It's limited by both time and skip number -- only the first 1000 entries made in the last two weeks will show up on your friends page.

There are built-in filters for viewing your friends page by personal journals (http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/friends/?show=P), comms (?show=C), and feeds (?show=Y); you can also combine the options to show, for example, both personal journals and communities (?show=PC).

I usually stay updated enough that I don't have to use them, but occasionally when one of my comms is very active, I go over a thousand entries and filter by only personal journals *grin*.

Use an RSS reader, for that man feeds. (I use NetNewsWire and love it.)

IAWTC. I only add feeds that I really want on my friend's list. If you have so many feeds, using a reader is probably better. It's more organised and easier to read than the friend's list sometimes.

Yep. Which is why I switched.

It's also worth a mention here that paid users can view the friends page by date: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=219
