I'd like this. I wanted to do it when I moved to this area, but there was no easy way (might not mean much in a small town, but in a large city, it would be incredibly helpful).

I live Northern KY which is full of many numerous small towns as well as being just 10 miles south of Cincinnati, OH. Every time I search for local people I have to search for many various local cities and towns, all separately. I hope they choose to add this feature! It'd definitely save me a headache! :)

Nifty idea - and it'd be useful for large metro areas, too - to find local people, I have to check Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, Boston (and all its subdivisions Allston, Brighton, Allston-Brighton, Jamaica Plain, etc) ...

As long as entering a zip code would *not* make your input city location change. I believe this is the current behavior, which is why I don't give LJ my zip code - I like being able to be from Camberville, MA, and most locals consider that a reasonable location description. So I would want to be able for my profile to keep saying "Camberville, MA," but to be able to input my zip code and have other locals using said "zip code search" to have me considered local to them.
