Merging accounts

Short, concise description of the idea
Merging past livejournal accounts into a new one.

Full description of the ideaI happen to have many different livejournal accounts some going back to 2003 and I always wanted to merge all the accounts into one super account so all of my past entries would be in one simple journal. I tend ( Read more... )

Hmm, maybe it would be easier to make the feature "automatically move/copy all the entries from one account into another." That way, there would be less confusion about merging usernames, friends lists, profiles, etc. I think most people probably want this sort of thing for the entries, anyway.

Entries and comments. I couldn't imagine wanting to import entries and not also retain the comments.

The thing I'm worried about: entry numbers and comment numbers. Not all of them will overlap, but now that each journal has its own ID series, some of them might. When they do, either there will be a collision, or links will have to be broken. (Or a disambiguation entry put in.)

It would have to have at least the same fee of a rename token, or more. if not, people would simply create a new account, then merge their existing account with the new one, choosing to keep the new account's name.
