Customize Journal sandbox

Short, concise description of the ideaWhen making adjustments to journal layout right now, it's necessary to save changes to the actual journal with no ability to preview. I assume you're talking about changes made by the S2 wizard, as it is currently possible to "preview" changes when using layers and styles.

In that case, +1 for the suggestion.

Yes, exactly. I took the "stay away from this area unless you're a programmer" disclaimer on the Advanced tab at face value and left it alone. This is a suggestion for layouts tweaked under the "Custom Options" tab of the S2 customizer only.

I'd like to see this applied to the "programmer" interface, too. As it stands, someone who uses the advanced area to write his own layers has to compile, save, then view. (Yes, viewing can be done in a separate window.) But it makes it hard to back out of inadvertently devastating changes unless you kept a backup copy in an external editor.

A style preview would be useful, but I despair of anyone who might start hacking their layer code without taking a backup first ;)
