Short, concise description of the idea
Mass-update the privacy level of posts which were originally posted under a friends filter to another privacy level.

There might be some technical reason why "from a filter" doesn't work, but it seems like "all posts, regardless of security" should be doable and would be useful.

We actually investigated this when we were coding the edit-privacy tool, and because a post can be filtered to more than one friends filter at a time (ie, my "trusted" filter and my "semitrusted" filter) it turned out to be a nightmare to code. It's on the "like to do it in the future" list, but it's also on the "this will need some random brainwave striking to figure out how to do it" list.

Thanks for this explanation. I didn't think of the complexity of multiple filters on a single post.

I suppose that one option would be to simply document a limitation: "If you have selected multiple filters selected for a post, we will not change the privacy level for that post".

The simpler case of having an "all posts" option doesn't seem like it adds a lot of complexity to this tool, though.

Yes! And even if changing individual filters is too complicated, an "all posts" option would be wonderful.
