Video files can be a lot larger than plain pictures... and what about those phones that use .3gp format?

Yeah, but as far as video formats go its not that large, and I think that's the point. LJ already opened this can o worms by allowing some video formats to be posted. It only makes sense that it supports as many of the formats as it can, including .3gp, if they are already supported on the sites they allow to embed media in LJ posts.
