Would you also list university ROTC programs in this listing, or would you keep those with schools? Also, would this be done for other nations' military services, such as British SAS?

This is for any country's military, I happen to an American military brat and used the references I was familiar with.

ROTC programs is a tough call. I'd need to research them more, but then again that's not my call to make unless I become an admin responsible for the directory's maintenance.

Oh man, it'd be cool if there were ROTC programs listed. Often there are cadets enrolled in them that are otherwise already serving in the military, and (if I understand correctly) go there to train to get an officer rank. So there's a mix of different enlisted and officer ranks there... I think it'd be a help. :)

You mean, on other users' profiles, in the LJ Schools Directory? They shouldn't be there. But stuff slips through as with any moderated content, and we'll fix it as soon as we notice or are notified.

They were recently removed as they are not accredited or degree-granting institutions.

then by extension all of the fictional schools should be removed.

but that would greatly annoy the fandom portion of LiveJournal.

I think this is a step forward on this idea--it's gonna need revising. But it could work.

I agree that we need a separate directory, but I don't know that it needs to be strictly Military. I think that we need a separate directory, and it needs to be comprised of all the schools that are of a nebulous nature, all the ones we've been debating about. Nursing schools, military establishments, etc. I think we need two directories: One for schools (the one we have now,) and one for everything else. What say you, Schools team?

Nursing schools aren't currently allowed in the directory?

I'm not sure. But there's been discussion about how they might not ought to be in, and I was thinking that if they weren't allowed to be in the directory proper, if we had the separate directory that I'm proposing, kind of a catch-ass type thing, maybe nursing schools could go in it.

We're currently re-discussing policies. And, this really varies by country, I assume you and Lacey are referring to US specifically. For example, the countries I manage, nursing schools are certainly allowed.

(...except the other kind of "nursing schools" that I've seen...)
