I think most users think of userpics as pictures rather than as part of their Profile.

Full description of the ideaI think that "Edit Userpics" makes more sense under the Pictures menu in the navigation strip than it does in its current location,

Before I'm corrected by another... I should say "could" find this change confusing. I have know way of knowing whether or not the majority would find it confusing, but there's quite the potential for confusion.

I don't really think that icons (userpics) should be confused with the galleries (other pictures).

I've been at LJ for years -- originally I didn't use my LJ Scrapbook at all. But I used icons from day one.

I'm torn on this one, a bit. Maybe a link could appear under both??? (There doesn't ever appear to be such a thing as too many navigation links in my book...)

I agree. It took me a little while to get used to it's position under profile, as I would intuitively look under pictures.

Agreed. It always takes me a few minutes to find them. When I see "pictures", I think userpics, not scrapbook.

"Pictures" deals with links related to LJ Scrapbook. Since userpics have nothing to do with Scrapbook and far more to do with your profile, it makes sense to have the link where it is.

The point of my request is that you already have to know that "pictures" deals with links related to the Scrapbook for the current menu placement to make sense. Many people like myself who do not use the Scrapbook wouldn't know that. Therefore, I think that "pictures" to most people just means generally "pictures," not a specific category of LJ pictures.
