Put [PREVIEW] button on main Update Journal page

Sep 26, 2001 22:49

Short description

Currently there is a Preview mode that lets you view the functionality of your HTML and LJ tags when entering comments, but not when entering a main journal entry from the Update Journal page. You can do Edit Entries, but that is inconvenient, and allows mistakes to potentially be viewed before they're fixed.

I can't even figure out how to edit the above main journal entry in suggestions! Ironic, no? A preview mode would have let me fix up the details I'm unsatisfied with in my above post, but I apparently can't even get to edit it right now. But at least I can Preview this comment. Phew!

Click on Edit Entries, on the left hand side :-)

Thanx, but I did try that! What came up is my latest personal journal entry, not the entry for this suggestions community. I couldn't figure out how to get the correct entry to edit. This just isn't as easy as it could/should be!

[Ahh, it's nice to have the Preview button here, as I'm writing this comment!]

When viewing the comments page, look at the icons up top, one is a pencil. Click on it to edit an entry. This works with entries you've written in any journal, whether they're backdated or not. (If they don't allow comments you need to go through the calendar to get to the entry on a page with a pencil, but you can always edit an entry you've written. :))

Just another vote for the original suggestion. Give me a Preview button, please!

A preview button would also be welcome in the Update Journal section of my Portal.

Dead topic, I take it? Or some other reason this (rather obvious) feature still isn't implemented?

The preview button is especially desirable for community entries.

When posting to your own journal, there's a workaround: you can make the entry private, see how it looks, fix it, and then change it to public, without inconveniencing anybody else. However, this is not possible for community entries! Whoever is reading the community (possibly a large number) will have their friends page messed up until the broken entry is fixed.
