Title
Allowing OpenID Users to Join/Post In Communities

Short, concise description of the idea
Basically allow people logged in through OpenID to join and post in communities.

Full description of the idea
I understand why OpenID users can't post entries, but given that they can comment on entries and be added to friends lists, I think it makes sense for them to be able to join communities and post in them. One of the reasons I use OpenID here is that there are LJ communities I'm interested in; but I already have a blog on my own website and have no desire for a LiveJournal. (I made this account just to play around with the settings so I could inform friends.)
An ordered list of benefits
  • Lets OpenID users have more access to the LJ community.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • None I can think of...

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • No major problems I can think of; it would just involve changing permissions, wouldn't it? Adjusting the community interface is the only thing I think would really create problems...

openid, community membership, § implemented
