Cross Posting

Title
Allow users to cross post something between journals.

Short, concise description of the idea
Frequently I post things that are of interest to several groups that I'm involved in. For example, next month at dragoncon, in atlanta, I'll be hosting a sleepover night which we'll be watching the first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so it will be of interest ( Read more... )

The post will be put in the main journal/community that you have chosen, but will also appear in the others, with a note that it has been Cross-posted from username (also posted to journal, journal, journal). All the comments that get posted to it will go to the original posting place, but will then appear in all the cross-posting places.

I was wondering if all of the comments should be cross-posted to all of the posting places, or if users should have the option to only cross-post to journals that they actually read?

I hate to bring this up, because I know adding this option would involve a huge amount of work, and would possibly make the original idea unworkable. Which is a shame, as I can think of several occasions recently when the possibility of cross-posting would have been useful. However, I can't get rid of a nagging feeling that in some cases people might want to keep their comments more private by limiting them only to journals that they regularly post to.

Sorry :(

I second this request, with a specific twist that I haven't seen (or may have missed; I'm not a coder and skimmed lightly through the talk of how to code it). I'd like to see these crossposts only appear once on a friends list. I expect this would make it more complex to code, but I tire of seeing crossposted entries multiple times on my friends page. It would be nice if I could see one entry, and have, instead of just the username and community it posted to, the username and ALL communities it posted to. Just a thought.

As an extension to this, it seems sort of...obvious...to allow users to have a post that is a member of his personal journal and also of some number of communities.
