This may help:

Custom Friends Groups: If you create a custom friends group named Mobile View, visiting your Mobile Friends page will display only entries from members of the Mobile View group. If you don't have a Mobile View friends group, the page will show entries from members of your Default View (if any) or all of your friends.

This doesn't help when I have a few hundred friends, and have them in about a dozen different groups.

No, not you personally, and it doesn't invalidate the suggestion, but chances are it might help the OP who sounds like they have an issue to deal with right now, whereas a fix that addresses could take whoever knows how long.
