*nods* Or even better, just have a log-in interface right there - saying "This entry is protected and you do not have the necessary access permissions to see it. However, if you have alternate credentials to access the entry, please enter them here" and have a log-in spot, like there is for comments.

I agree. It's annoying that that page lacks most of the useful LJ navigation, and it should definitely have a login form.
