Another idea floated in the past has been more specific non-custom security levels, such as one that would excluse identity accounts.

This sounds horribly complex. You're dividing up users into different security groups depending on how they're logging in, and then you're specifying that security using tags, rather than the friends-lists that are used everywhere else.

A recipe for confusion, I'd think.

It sounds like an easy way to change security on a whole tag at a time, plus a suggested default security when making a new entry with a given tag, would work well to address the same need. Also a better way to edit custom security groups so it is easy to keep all of one's friends from Facebook out of a group or put them all in one.

I like it. You could perhaps add OpenID users to different friends groups, just like normal LJ users?

Would be better to allow us to choose whether OpenID users can see a post through the existing post security options, rather than through tags. For convenience, could allow us to add OpenID users to friend groups for posting filters.
